Chartered Accountant (CA) Course Details

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) provided Chartered Accountancy course in India. It is one of the biggest accounting bodies in the world. The ICAI Head office is based in New Delhi and it has its Regional offices in all stats of India. Anyone who want to register for the CA course can register at the Head office or at any of the Regional offices.

You can register for the course after completing class 11th but passing 12th is
compulsory by the time of first exam.The registration process for the course
remains open throughout the year.

The course basically comprises of following stages

  1. Common Proficiency Test (CPT)
  2. Integrated Professional Competence Course(IPCC) or IPCC (Group-I and Group-II)
  3. Three Years Articleship/Training Under a Practicing C.A
  4. A Final

CPT: It is the first stage of the exam and all the students who are 12th passed are eligible for the exam. The exam is of 200 marks and contains questions from Maths Law, Economics and Accounts. Minimum 100 Marks are required to clear the exam. Sectional cut off will be applied from November.

IPCC: All the students you are B.com Graduates can go for this level directly skipping the CPT level. All other stream students are also eligible for the exam but the condition is that they must have at least 60% marks in their graduation.

Finals: After IPCC a 15 months training will be there which is mandatory and after that you will be able to give the finals exam. Final exam are conducted in two groups.

Fee is 6500/- for CPT course which includes Form fees, Exam fees and registration fees

CA Course Eligibility

  • Any student who has passed 10thclass or any course equivalent to that can apply for the Common Proficiency Test (CPT) first.
  • To pursue the Integrated Professional Competence Examination candidate has to qualify in CPT(Common Proficiency Test)
  • Graduates/Post Graduates in commerce stream with 55% and other graduates or post graduates with 60% can also apply.

Eligibility for Integrated Professional Competence Course Examination:

The candidates who are going to pursue the IPCC course must qualified in the CPT examination. The graduate/post graduate in commerce stream with 55% and other graduates/post graduates with 60% can apply for IPCC. The candidate has to register 9 months before the Integrated Professional Competence Course Examination. After that the candidate has to complete 100 hours of Information Technology Training.

Requirements for the CA Course

  • The student needs to be qualified in Common Proficiency Test
  • After qualified in the CPT exam the student needs to be qualified in Integrated Professional Competence Course.
  • When the student successfully completed the IPCC course, that person has to be undergone for training under a Practicing Chartered accountant or Three years Article ship.
  • Finally the student need to appear for CA Final exams.

Register for CPT

The students have to register with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) for Common Proficiency Test (CPT) after passing class 10th examination.

Appear and Pass CPT:

After qualifying in 10+2 examination and after completion of period of at least 60 days from the date of registration for CPT Candidate can attend for CPT examination. The CPT Examination is to be conducted when students registered on or before 1st April/1st October will be eligible to appear in June/December examination, as the case may be.

IPCC Registration:

After the completion of CPT exam the student register fir Integrated Professional Competence course (IPCC). The student should pass both CPT and 10+2 before registering for IPCC. The registration for IPCC should be done before nine months of the examination. IPCC course has total seven papers. The group 1 is consist of four papers and group 2 consist of three years. For commencing Articleship passing IPCC group 1 examinations is necessary.

ITT and Orientation:

Before registering for Articleship the student need to complete 100 hours Information Technology Training (ITT) & Orientation and ITT are to be completed. The Orientation Course covers the topics like personality development, office procedure, business environment, communication skills, general commercial knowledge, etc and includes one week spanning 35 hours.

Appear and Pass IPCC Group I Exam:

You can attempt and pass Group I or Both Groups of Integrated Professional Competence Examination.

Appear and Pass IPCC Group II Exam:

You can attempt Group 2 after Group 1 attempt or during Articleship.

Register for Articleship:

Passing either Group I or both the Groups of IPCE, You need to register as Articled Assistant for a period of three years with Practicing Chartered Accountant.

Register for C.A Final Course:

After passing both groups of IPCC you can register for C.A Final Course.

Appear and Pass CA Final Exam:

The student can attempt CA Final Examination during last 6 months of 3 years of articled training.

Complete Articleship:

The articled training is completely three years.

General Management and Communication Skills:

You need to complete 15 days period of General Management and Communication Skills program of the CA final course.

Membership:

Finally you can enroll as a member of ICAI and designate as a Charted Accountant.
