About IELTS Exam
The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is a test which measures the language proficiency of the people who want to study or work where English language is used to communicate with the others. It is one of the famous language proficiency test across the world. The IELTS test is developed by some of the world’s leading experts in language assessment. It uses a nine-band scale to identify levels of proficiency of language.
IELTS is available in two versions. They are ILETS Academic and IELTS General Training. IELTS Academic is for the people who are applying for higher education or professional registration. IELTS General Training for those who are migrating to Australia, Canada and the UK or applying for secondary education, training programs and work experience in an English-speaking environment. Both versions provide the accurate assessment of the four language skills- listening, writing, reading and speaking.
IELTS Eligibility Criteria
There is no basic eligibility for IELTS exam. Anyone who wants to pursue education or work opportunities in an English Speaking country can apply for the IELTS test. The test will be conducted in two versions- IELTS Academic and IELTS General Training.
The candidate needs to check other required eligibility for the organization or institution she/he wishes to be associated with.

The registration fee for ILETS test is Rs.11, 300.

IELTS Application
IELTS Application form is available throughout the year. Typically the test is held for a maximum of four times a month is based on the test Centre. The IELTS can be re-taken for an unlimited number of times after registering separately for each test.
IELTS Booking Checklist
Check required IELTS test type:
There are two versions available of the IELTS test, IELTS Academic or IELTS General Training. The candidate needs to choose the version and know which type of test you are registering for prior to booking.
Prepare Identity Documentation:
The candidate may need a photograph of their valid passport or national identity card for the booking. The participants of the test must bring the same identification as used for booking.
IELTS Test Dates
IELTS test is conducted once a week, it means the test held four times in a month across 125 countries. Both formats of English proficiency test are usually conducted on Saturdays or Thursday. There are more than 50 IELTS dates for every year. Candidates can the ILETS test dates as per the availability of the test centre. The candidates can should be chosen at least 3-4 months before their application deadline.
IELTS Exam Locations
The IELTS testing is offered in over 48 locations across the US through independent testing providers managed by the IELTS USA office in Los Angeles.
The British Council and IDP provide the test centres for candidates. The British Council offers tests in 42 locations across India, while IDP has presence in 40 cities, including Thimphu in Bhutan. The candidates book their test place before the registration deadline.
