IELTS is a multi-level exam. The IELTS 9-band scale. Anyone can get a score between 1 to 9 for each section such as listening, writing, reading and speaking and can score whole bands in each part of the test. There is no fixed pass mark in IELTS. The institution/organization you want to enter will decide whether your score is appropriate for the course of study or training you want to undertake.
IELTS Results
IELTS Results are released on the 13th day after the exam that in the form of a test report test. These results are valid for two years. The preview of results is usually available online. The preview of your test is provisional and may not be used as official confirmation of your achievement. Students will need their passport to pick-up the results. An ID will not be sufficient. Test results can’t be released by phone, email or tax.
There is no pass or fail in IELTS, scores are granted on the 9-band system. Every educational institution or organization sets its own level of IELTS Test results to meet their individual requirements. The nine-point scoring system measures and reports test scores for each language skill or sub-tests.
Band 9: Expert User
Band 8: Very good user
Band 7: Good user
Band 6: Competent user
Band 5: Modest user
Band 4: Limited user
Band 3: Extremely limited user
Band 2: Intermittent user
Band 1: Non-user
Band 0: Did not attempt the test
How to Check IELTS Results Online
- Visit the official British Council website.
- Click Take an exam under option ‘IELTS’.
- Then click on ‘Your Results’ option which is appeared on right side of the page.
- The next page will display on screen and you will see an option ‘Preview your results online’.
- When you click on ‘Preview your results online’, the next page will ask to fill the details like test date, date of birth, identification document number candidate number.
- If you fill all details in the given space, click on ‘Find’ option.
IELTS Test Report Form (TRF)
Your official Test Report Form will be released after 13 days of the test to you. The Test Report Form shows your IELTS Scores for all your skill areas-listening, reading, writing and speaking. Typically Institutions will not accept a Test Report Form more than two years. You will receive only one copy of your Test Report Form. Replacements can’t be issued, so keep is safe.
There is one good thing that the test center will sent the copies of your Test Report Form copies to nearly 5 recognizing organizations. Â These five copies are free of charge. You will be asked to name these five when you book your test. They will be sent electronically, so in some cases, your chosen organizations will receive your results before you do.
Your recognizing organizations can also check the details of your Test Report Form through British Council secure online database.
