IELTS General Training:
IELTS General Training focuses on basic survival skills in broad social and workplace stations and is also designed for the people who are willing to pursue their education or employment or conduct training programs in foreign countries. It is referred as a requirement for migration to Australian, Canada, UK and New Zealand.
IELTS General Training is divided into four modules viz. Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking. Students who opt for this type of test obtain training in all these modules and then prepare for the test. The duration to complete this entire section is 2 hours 45 minutes.
IELTS General Reading Test
IELTS General Reading Test comprises of 3 sections in which Section 1 contains two or more shorter texts. Section 2 consists of two texts and finally Section 3 consists of one long text. General Reading Test comprises of the variety of questions which include multiple choice, identifying information, note completion, identifying writer’s views and claims, matching headings, sentence completion, matching sentence endings, summary completion etc.
First Section includes topics that are related to ‘Social Survival’ which include retrieving & providing general factual information such as notices, advertisements, and timetables etc. Second Section includes topics related to ‘Workplace Survival’ which focuses on the workplace context, for instance, job descriptions, contracts and staff development and training materials and finally, Third Section is related to ‘General Reading’ which involves reading prose with a complex structure. The emphasis is on descriptive and instructive rather than argumentative texts that are relevant to a wide range of test takers. For example, newspapers, magazines, fictional and non-fictional book extracts.
